DAR forms children’s society

Captain Jacob Van Meter Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution announces the formation of Van Meter Fort Society Children of the American Revolution with an organizational ceremony Sept. 11 at the Brown-Pusey House in Elizabethtown. Children and adults attended in period dress to celebrate the new society.
The Color Guard, George Williams and W.L. McCoy, Colonel John Hardin Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, and Betsy Tucker and Shirlet McCamish, Captain Jacob Van Meter Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, presented the colors.
Elizabethtown Mayor Jeff Gregory gave greetings from the city of Elizabethtown, State Chaplain Lillian Wallace gave greetings from the Kentucky Society Children of the American Revolution, and Vice-Regent Linda King gave greetings from Captain Jacob Van Meter Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
Kentucky Children of the American Revolution Senior State President Melanie Hunt, formally installed the Van Meter Fort Society and Senior Officers. Van Meter Fort Society members who participated in the ceremony were Chace King, Aimee Goldsmith, Addison Sharpensteen, Lochlan Brown with Vice-President Tristan Ashlock conducting the meeting. A reception followed.
Twenty-six children are charter members, Everette Jane Ashlock, Jenna Alyssa Lee, Tristan Bradley Ashlock, Keagan Riley Mather, Lariat Deanna Baker, Zoey Elizabeth McNary, Laramie Patience Baldwin, Luke Thomas Miller, Irelann Margaret Brown, Hazel Lynn Narvaez, Robert Lochlan Brown, Axl O’Neal Peters, Ronan Jack Brown, Bindi Michelle Peters, Aimee Nicole Goldsmith, Conor Charles Peters, Kantlee Joriah Harvey, Maggie Rosanna Prestia, Cody Allen Heath, Addison Claire Sharpensteen, Justin Ty Heath, Grayson Paul Stinger, John Lewis Humphries, Ella Marie Tucker, Chace Masaru King and Emma Jane Tucker.

The mission of the Children of the American Revolution is to train good citizens, develop leaders and promote love of the United States of America and its heritage among young people. Any boy or girl, younger than 22, is eligible for membership who is lineally descended from a man or woman who rendered material aide to the cause of the American independence as a soldier, sailor, civil officer or recognized patriot.
