How to Join

Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in American independence is eligible to join DAR.  You must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage and death as well as of the Revolutionary War service of you Patriot ancestor.

Our chapter can provide guidance and assistance with the application process.  Admission to membership in the national Society is through a chapter or as a member-at-large.  

We invite you to visit our chapter and meet us.  Just email our chapter registrar to find information on the next meeting and to let us know that you will be attending.

How Do I Start Preparing My Application?

Fill out the Pedigree Chart (PDF) as completely as you can and bring it with you when you meet our registrar, who will guide you through the application process. 

Many of you belong to Ancestry.com.  You may use ancestry.com but there must be a document to provide information not just information that others have entered in the database.

You may use the Genealogical Research System on the DAR website:  www.dar.org

• See if your Revolutionary War ancestor has already been proven
• See if you have a common lineage

How Much Does It Cost?

The application cost is $117.  $75 is the application fee and is nonrefundable – the remaining $42 is for national dues for the first year of membership.  If the application is not approved, $40 is refundable.
